Kita semua tahu bahwa saus tomat botolan banyak mengandung bahan kimia seperti pengawet dan pewarna yang membahayakan kesehatan. Tapi, kalau makan kentang goreng gak pake saus tomat rasanya ada yang kurang kan? Nah, jika kamu adalah penggemar setia saus tomat, kamu boleh coba nih DIY saus tomat sendiri di rumah! Di sini, bahan dasar yang kita gunakan adalah pasta tomat, bukan tomat asli. Pasta tomat adalah puree tomat, yaitu tomat halus tanpa tambahan apapun yang kadar airnya sebagian besar sudah dikurangi. Warnanya merah menyala dan sangat kental dengan bau khas asli tomat. Tomat puree atau paste biasanya dijual dalam kemasan kaleng, kotak kecil, tube (seperti pasta gigi) atau kaca bening. Tomat puree sangat mudah dijumpai di supermarket besar, biasanya di rak saus atau bahan makanan kaleng.
Jika Anda ingin menggunakan tomat asli juga bisa, namun dalam artikel kali ini, kita lebih fokus ke pembuatan dengan menggunakan pasta tomat karena lebih praktis dan mudah dibuat!
Yuk, mari kita mulai!
Bahan:
200 gram pasta tomat
1 sendok makan brown sugar
3 sendok makan cuka putih
1/2 gelas air
1/2 bawang bombay kecil
1/2 sendok teh mustar
1/4 sendok teh bubuk cengkeh
1/4 sendok teh bubuk kayu manis
1/4 sendok teh garam
Cara pembuatan:
1. Ambil bawang kecil, kupas kulitnya, potong setengah.
2. Masukkan brown sugar ke dalam gelas dan larutkan dengan air panas (Jika Anda suka lebih kental, boleh kurangi sedikit airnya). Setelah mendingin, masukkan setengah potong bawang dan hancurkan dengan blender tangan, pastikan agar tidak ada potongan yang tersisa (hati-hati meluber!).
3. Masukkan pasta tomat ke dalam mangkuk, tambahkan bubuk cengkeh, bubuk kayu manis, garam, mustard, cuka putih, dan air campuran gula dan bawang yang dibuat tadi, lalu aduk rata menggunakan whisk.
4. Setelah diaduk sampai rata, saus tomat pun jadi!
